Construction of a mixed-use development proposed to comprise:

  • – Ground level – The closure of Penny Lane with the provision of 148 parking spaces below the building accessed from Gallagher Steet, construction of 849m2 of commercial premises, back of house facilities accessed from Wallum Place, three new parking spaces in Porter Street, alterations in Gallagher Street to provide three car parking spaces and two loading spaces, creation of a pocket park at the eastern end of the closed Penny Lane, adjustment of the eastern pedestrian access and minor works at the rear of 4-20 Porter Street to increase the private open space of those properties and the erection of bike storage awnings;
  • – Level 1 – The construction of 37 shop top housing apartments (being 2 x 2-bedroom and 35 x 1-bedroom and home office), 1,661m2 landscaped podium, swimming pool and resident amenities; and
  • – Level 2 – The construction of 41 shop top housing apartments (2  x 2-bedroom and 39x 1-bedroom and home office).

This project is intended to proceed in place of the approved Mixed Use Development DA 2020.87 comprising Commercial, Retail and Tourist Accommodation over three (3) levels with basement carparking.

To ensure that people in the neighbourhood have a full understanding of the proposal before we lodge it with Council, we are conducting a Community Consultation Session.  At the Community Consultation Session, the proposal will be explained in detail.  The session will take place between 3 and 6pm on Monday 28 April 2025 in the Large Meeting Room in HABITAT Building T2.
